The earliest Dinky Toys were not modelled on specific makes and models of vehicle, they were generic cars, lorries and vans based on what was on the roads at the time. The lorries changed over time however there are four types made from 1934 through to 1950 by which time realistic and recognisable makes of truck were in production. They were all under model number 25 with different suffixes to identify the body type.
Type 4 was made from 1947 to 1950. There were 6 body types:
Type 4 is recognised by having a complete baseplate with no openings, the baseplate has cast engine & propshaft detail. There are headlamps (sometimes broken off) and a front bumper.
