Dinky Toys 34b; Royal Mail Van

This model of the 15cwt Morris Commercial was introduced to the range in 1938 and remained in production until 1952. There are three main variations. The simplest way to sort them out is that the first run from 1938 to 1947 had open rear windows. From 1947 to 1952 the windows were cast over. Of the vans without rear windows they were made from 1948 to 1951 with a black roof and in the final year of production, 1952, the roof was left red.

This Morris van is much liked by modern die-cast makers and there are countless versions in the LLedo Days Gone range, Corgi Classics, Corgi Cameo and Matchbox Models of Yesteryear ranges, here though we have a contemporary representation of this once very commonly seen van.
