Dinky Toys 968; BBC TV Roving Eye Camera Vehicle; Dark Green & Silver

How exciting to have a BBC mobile camera van back in those early sixties when there were only two channels and those in black and white. In 1958 when the 968 BBC TV Roving Eye vehicle was released most of us still had no television. How glamorous.

This is definitely on a Rootes vehicle, Commer or Karrier, probably a Karrier Gamecock, and it is a fine model. There are no variations and a mint in box example would cost quite a bit of cash these days. There is also a Mobile Control Room and a TV Extending Mast to go with should you want your own outside broadcast unit. These days my niece, who is a news editor at the BBC, carries her kit around in her handbag.
