Joe 90 was one of those 'Supermarionation' TV series from the 60s produced by Jerry Anderson. A schoolboy crime fighter with super powers - based around a pair of electronic spectacles as far as I can remember. Dinky produced his car from 1969 through to 1975. It seems to have been inspired by a sort of moon buggy type vehicle wit a jet engine and retractable wings. You will find it in two styles of box. Bubble pack boxes are more commonly found and worth a little less than the cardboard box with the pictorial background featuring an English Cotswold cottage - not the first image that springs to mind. It was actually his father's car, Professor Mac: This is a car built by Mac to his own specifications. Its lack of design and unusual appearance is explained by the fact that, as a Professor-type, Mac has concentrated on performance. It travels quickly while as a hovercraft or on land, sea or in the air. It has retractable wings and fins and retractable wheels. In the air its maximum speed is 300 miles per hour. On the sea 70 knots. On land 200 miles per hour. It uses a special high octane essence and does about 20 miles to the gallon. It is powered by two powerful jet engines. Colour: Metallic Viridian green (www.bigrat.co.uk) This model was acquired in April 2012 from a private collection |
