Dinky Toys 165/213; Ford Capri

The Ford Capri was launched in 1969, a coupe version of the Consul Classic had first used the name in the early 60s, but this was a completely new car, designed to repeat the success of the American Ford Mustang in the European market. It was made in three versions right through to 1986 and was very successful, selling 1.9 million units. This model is of the Mk 1 car made from 1969 to 1974. It was basically a Mk2 Cortina in a coupe version, but what a coupe!

Dinky made their version of it from 1969 to 1976, it is either metallic purple or metallic blue/green. Early releases had detailed cast hubs, later releases had Speedwheels, the rally version was red or bronze metallic and was made 1970 to 1975 again with cast wheels on the early releases and Speedwheels later on.
