Dinky Toys 220; Ferrari P5
The Ferrari 250 P5 Berlinetta Speciale was a concept car designed to test aerodynamic ideas by Pininfarina and exhibited at the Geneva Motor Show in 1968. It had a rear mounted 3 litre V12 engine. It's a nice model of a striking and unusual car with that old favourite of design exercises - gull wing doors, which open on the model to reveal a nice detailed interior, not always present on Dinkys of this era.
Dinky started production of the Ferrari P5 in 1970 and it remained in production until 1975. It had metallic red paintwork and a yellow interior throughout the run. In 1973 the wheels were changed from the very handsome cast replicas of the real thing to rather poor generic Speedwheels. Neither version is particularly rare or valuable.
