The 'New Class' Range of BMWs saved the company. Prior to these there
had been big lumpen cars of pre-war design, bubble cars and economy cars
and the 507 supercar which failed in the late 50s and nearly
brought them down. With this range of compact, driver focused sporty
saloons they reinvented themselves, leading on to the 3 Series and 5
Series cars which led to their massive expansion during the 1980s.
The Dinky car was made from 1968 to 1973 and had the neat feature of
flashing indicator lamps.
This Dinky was sourced from a private collection in September 2017.
