Dinky Toys 200; Matra 630; Blue

I think this is a racing car that never really got racing. Matra sent a brand new M630 coupe to the Daytona 24-hours in February 1968 for Henri Pescarolo and Johnny Servoz-Gavin but 'Pepsi Cola' lost control of the car in practice and the car was too badly damaged to take part in the race. After that the car was developed very significantly for the Le Mans 24 hour race so much so that it was redesignated with a new model number the 650. This seemed to happen to Dinky (and Corgi) from time to time - they would make a model of the latest, best hope and it would never get off the starting line so to speak and the die-cast was obsolete from day one. However it did stay in the Dinky range for 7 years and it is a very nice looking racing car.

The Dinky Matra 630 Le Mans, 200, went into the range in 1971 and stayed in production until 1978. There are no colour or wheel variations, nor is it a particularly sought after model and the value is not high.
