This car was a track racer only, never a road car. There were either three or four of them built, primarily for the Le Mans 24 Hour Race in which they were very successful in 1954 and 1955. However after the huge crash at the 1955 race in which more than 80 people were killed, Bristol withdrew from racing and scrapped all but one of the cars.

This is an untypically poor piece of modelling from Dinky, however the real car was truly ugly too. The toy was in the range from 1956-60.
