Matchbox SpeedKings; Mercedes-Benz 'Binz' Ambulance

I've always liked this model, the old Mercedes 220 fin tail slightly stretched and made into an ambulance. This must have been one of the very first King Size releases and it's a good one which lasted a very long time indeed in the MB King Size range, it has opening front doors and rear hatch.

There are some little tail fins going on at the back there which places it firmly in time - although with Mercs they change so little from year to year that it was OK for Matchbox to keep plugging out the same casting for the best part of twelve years.

It was released in 1967 on regular wheels as K-6/2, converted to Superfast in 1971 when it was re-numbered to K-26/1. It was renumbered again to K-63/1 in 1977 and deleted in 1978.
