Matchbox/Lesney 50d; Articulated Truck

This truck is one of Matchbox's made up fantasy vehicles, this time an articulated tipper that doesn't tip. It is found with a red or yellow cab and a blue or silver trailer that may have chevron stickers on the sides and may also have a tow hook. If it does have a hook then it was probably sold in a twin-pack with a matching four wheel trailer.

The Articulated Truck (50d) was released in 1973 with a yellow cab and blue trailer with or without stickers this version stayed in the range until 1979. In 1980 the colours were changed to red with a blue trailer. Also in 1980 there were twin packs available with a second four wheel trailer attached to the back of the artic trailer with a hook. These are either yellow/blue or red/silver. Any red cab version is worth having - so long as the trailer chassis is red too and of the yellow/blue ones stickers add a small premium to the price. Windows can be red or purple
