Matchbox 45d; BMW 3.0CSL; Orange, Cream Seats, Green Windows, BMW Logo
This was such a wonderful car in the 1:1 metal version, known as the
Batmobile it was an out and out performance coupe and the 'L' stood for
licht or light. It was stripped down and tuned up.
The car was added to the Matchbox range at 45d in 1976 and stayed there
until 1982, which is a long run. For most of its production it was in
shades of orange with either clear or green glass with a big BMW logo on
the bonnet on some of them. There were three white releases in Germany
and Austria and right at the end of the run came a red version.
The best one to go for is the red one. The white ones are next best with
the orange ones most common, most common of all with green glass - but
you knew that as soon as you saw the one I've got.
This Matchbox was sourced in February 2018 from Lacy Scott & Knight auctioneers, it was sold in March 2018 via eBay for £10.50 |
