Models of Yesteryear Y-12/5; 1937 GMC Van |

Box notes: "Based on the T14 G.M.C. 126" (3200mm) wheelbase chassis, the 3.76 litre engine developed 86 brake horsepower at 3500 rpm. Load capacity was 1 ton (1016kg), and the body was British built by Bonnallack & Sons." This was a big van - 126" wheelbase is almost as big as the extended Land-Rovers that have a full four seater cab and the long load-bed off the 110. Looking it up on the Internet the T14 seems best known as a pickup and was the first produced by GM, judging by the number of websites all around restoring them it seems like a popular one too. The first release of the Models of Yesteryear van was black in the livery of Goblin a UK vacuum cleaner maker, these can be all over black or black with a grey roof. You will also see it in cream and green in Baxter's Soup livery and blue/black/red with 'Goanna' for Goanna Salve, a well-known known Australian curative preparation; the Australian Bush Remedy. I've also seen some more recent releases for example a fire engine. None of them are particularly rare or sought after. There are two versions of the headlamps, cone shaped or acorn shaped. |
