Models of Yesteryear Y-22/1; 1930 Ford Model A Van |
![]() |
Box notes: "This light delivery van was based on the chassis of the Model A car and was powered by a 4 cylinder engine of 2033cc. Often van bodies were built on a car chassis suitably adapted to carry the extra weight by the local coachbuilder, thereby creating considerable variety in the appearance of these vehicles. Scale: 1:40" Canadian Post Office van box notes: "This 1930 Ford light delivery van, powered by a 4 cylinder engine is built on the 2.63m (103½ inch) model A chassis. Local companies supplied delivery vans under contract to Canada Post using a variety of body styles. The initials "GR" which flank the Canadian coat of arms on the van's body refer to George V, who was then King of England. Scale: 1:40"" Of the rash of Model A Van models made by Lledo, Matchbox et al, this one is the nicest, well made and heavy and solid. One of the few MOY models with windows. Overall an attractive model which displays well and available in a wide range of liveries & finishes, many of which can be found at a reasonable price in mint & boxed condition making it a practical entry point for a lot of new collectors. Because the model spanned
changes of ownership at Matchbox you will find Lesney-made models from
England and Matchbox International models made in England, Macau and
China. This has an effect on value and is based on scarcity. Ramsay only
lists a couple of OXO releases as having a premium and they are a UK
Lesney made van with red seats and another with a gloss black roof.
There is a more meaningful breakdown of the versions and their values in
the Model Collector price guide. |
