Based on the 1927 14 horse power Talbot chassis, this van was supplied with a custom built body, - to accommodate the buyers needs. This enabled the tradesmen of the 1920's and 1930's to have a speedy and versatile means of delivery for their goods. Unusual for a MOY to have opening rear doors. There are millions of these - literally, most of them worth very little because they are so common. As ever there are some which are harder to find and fetch a premium as a result. Look out for Wrights Coal Tar Soap with a dark brown roof and Nestlé's Milk with a black roof. There's a story behind the Lipton's Tea version. It was put into production before permission was sought to use the Royal crest, which was refused. The crest was removed for later releases and collectors rushed out to get the deleted version with the crest and squirrel them away against the day it became valuable. So many were put away that very few suffered the usual attrition from play and consequently they not worth that much. |
