Models of Yesteryear Y-9/1; 1924 Fowler Big Lion Showmans Engine |
![]() |
The Fowler Showman's Engine was produced from 1958 to 1965 and was a die-cast that I was given new as a child and still own at the time of writing There are a number of colour variations and some of them are rare and valuable. All the engines have a transfer along the side of the roof canopy reading: "Lesney's Modern Amusements" and paintwork is in shades of maroon, red & purple with some detailing picked out in gold on some of the models. All versions are reasonably well valued but the best are: light purple, dark maroon with gold detailing on the cylinder block, slightly less without the gold detail. The bright red version is the one most commonly found, some sources quote that examples with a black baseplate in any colour will get a small premium over other examples in the same colour. |
