  Battle Kings and Adventure 2000  
 

The Battle Kings range was released as a group in 1974. They all were sold in Battle Kings themed window boxes with some really great artwork. Each came with three plastic soldier figures. They were numbered K-101 to K-118 and all are at least represented below, not all colours are present and some of them are a bit scruffy with some iffy photography here and there too. I've added the Adventure 2000 set of Space Age fighting vehicles to this page too.

Matchbox spent no time at all worrying about accuracy, scale or realism. The colours are wild and whacky in some cases, realistic military olive drab in others. There are models of real tanks and military vehicles, some loosely based on real vehicles and some straight from the fevered imagination of the Matchbox designers. Overall they are fun and of their time, they are also strongly collected with very good selling prices.
