You can see a massive trend in the 1979 releases
towards character merchandise and the re-use of existing castings to
produce models which capitalised on TV, movie & comic book franchises.
We have models for Superman, Spiderman, Captain America, Captain Marvel, The Incredible Hulk, Batman, James Bond and the Muppets, God help us. Seventeen out of 40 new releases fall into this category and of the rest there are no more than a couple of new castings, all the rest are changes in colour or livery. This is not a healthy place to be. |
