About Me

Models of Yesteryear must be one of the most underrated areas of die-cast collecting. So many of these cars are valued in Ramsay at less than a fiver in a mint and boxed state. I have picked up some incredible bargains at toy auctions where first class items in good boxes which are over 40 years old average just over a pound each. This is a good time to start a collection of MOY models as values can only go one way from here.

I guess at the time they were new they were very widely bought by collectors rather than being given to children as toys and the attrition through play which affects most other die-casts just did not happen to the same extent. Hence mint in box items are very easy to find.

However the serendipity that goes with die-cast collecting is just as prevalent here. I found a Simplex in a mixed lot of playworn cars off eBay that I've never seen listed anywhere, the odd item in a collectors lot at an auction turns out to be an overlooked rarity and there is the simple joy of learning as you find out more about these interesting old cars from the dawn of motoring.
