Simca 1000

Bought at the Classic Car Show NEC November 2008, an unbranded model of the Simca 1000 from the Sixties. This car is easily confused with the Renault 8 a model of which I bought at the same time. On the road they look very similar, it is really only the crease down the bonnet on the Renault which distinguishes them.

Of course Simca has disappeared but Renault still goes on. Simca was one of the European makes acquired by Chrysler in the 60s and disappeared with all the rest, the others being the UK's Rootes Group. All got the pentagon badge and all were swallowed up in PSA so no more Simcas, the last ones were badged as Talbots, the Talbot Rancho was a Simca underneath.
