The Dinky brand was acquired by Matchbox Toys in 1987 and in 1988 they launched the Dinky Collection in 1:43 scale to complement the Models of Yesteryear range. The Dinky Collection was discontinued when Tyco took over Matchbox and as a result there remains this tight little range of 35 models in about 70 variations. Many of the Matchbox Dinkys are now hard to find. Prices fell a few years ago but have now returned to stability.
