Vauxhall Cresta - 22a

The Series 1 Vauxhall Cresta - the Cresta E was actually Matchbox's first attempt at a saloon car, up to this point all the Matchbox models had been commercial vehicles. The modelling is not that fantastic though - the roof is too tall.

The car was introduced into the range in 1956 and remained in production up to 1958. The colour was always white or cream over dark red, the wheels were always metal with early examples having crimped axles and later ones riveted axles. None of these variations affect value and this is not a particularly hard to find model.

The example below is one I've owned ever since I can remember and the rather grim paint job is my own work from about 45 years ago.
