Rolls Royce Silver Shadow - 69c |

| I really like this one. In the
late sixties as a teenager I bought the blue model and a regular wheels
Cortina GT with the
intention of keeping them both in their boxes. Forty odd years on I still have
them
and they are still in their boxes, if a little dog-eared by now. While I was doing this
another young man, unknown to me, in Beeston bought the same two models, except he chose
the later Superfast Cortina. He sadly passed
away in 2010 and I was fortunate enough to be able to buy his whole collection
from his widow. I am so pleased to have all four cars in my collection
now. The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was an early release in the Superfast range at 69c, never having been available as a regular wheels car. It was originally light metallic blue, changing to light and then darker gold metallic. Finally being a lime green/gold metallic. You will see it with both narrow early Superfast wheels and the later wider wheels. There are also a number of colour variations in the seats and the folded hood There are no really rare versions but look out for the later green/gold version. There are 16 versions listed in Ramsay's guide and few attract much of a premium. The light gold one below is one of the rarer ones having light gold paint, cream seats and a black base, but it is a mess. |
