| It has the remains of
decals on the sides that say 'Nestlé' and a working, sliding driver's
door. It is the bog standard Commer van we are familiar with from
Corgi's Ice Cream van, and the later Matchbox Ice Cream Canteen for that matter.
The Commer Van 'NESTLES' joined the range in 1959 where it remained until 1965. They are either red or maroon and can have grey plastic wheels with either smooth or knobbly treads. Silver wheels may be seen and black wheels are no more than a rumour. Of the ones you are likely to see grey fine tread wheels are preferable to grey knobbly wheels. Silver wheels are really rare and valuable and if you have one with black wheels you are very fortunate indeed. |
