Wikipedia: "The International Motor Sports Association (generally referred to as IMSA) is an American auto racing sanctioning body " as you read through the article it becomes clear that 'International' means 'American' and that it is a name given to a set of motor racing series managed in the US. If this Mustang is anything to go by they do not require any sort of homogulation. and that major modification is part of the game. The pretty Mustang is buried very deep here in ugly bodywork extensions.

It is actually an updated version of the Lesney No.44 Boss Mustang produced from 1972 to 1977 with more extended wheel arches and a change to the casting to move the grille from being part of the baseplate to part of the body casting.
