| Check the colour scheme. It is so
noticeable when I open one of my drawers of die cast cars from the early
Seventies just how violent the colours are. Who would have thought a
conservative business like Maserati would produce a car with a bright
green chassis, lipstick pink bodywork and a custard yellow interior,
well according to Lesney they did. I
wonder what they were on? The
Matchbox Maserati Bora (32d) was made from 1973 to 1979, in all but its last year
of production it was this lurid colour, the last ones were metallic gold
with a silver base. The gold one is the one to go for as it is hardest
to find. Of the pink ones darker green or unpainted bases are the ones
to look for. The number 8 label tends to be commoner than the
number 3. |
