Saab Sonnet III - 65d

The name 'Saab Sonnet' is very familiar but I do not recognise the car. On looking it up on good old Wikipedia I find that Sonnets of one sort or another have been made in small quantities from the late fifties until the mid Seventies. these being sports cars of varying designs based on the contemporary saloon car components. This is the last of the line based on the Saab 96 V4 with the Ford Taunus V4 engine. Not a very good model though.

The Matchbox 65d Saab Sonnet was released in 1973 and remained in the range until 1976, always metallic blue or gloss blue with a grey or blue/grey rear hatch. It was re-released briefly in 1979 in a multi pack in white.

The only rare variation is the white one, but it is very rare indeed.

  Metallic blue, grey hatch

Gloss blue, blue hatch
