Standard Atlas 'Kenex' - 295

This is a real oddity. It's one of the many toys I once owned as a child; subsequently lost and have recently replaced from eBay. I've been looking for one of these for a long time and have now got one that is a fair compromise between price and condition.

I suppose it was a 1950's effort at a people carrier in the original Fiat Multipla sort of space. It was based on the Standard 10, with a 950 engine to speed it along. That must have been a wow with six people and their luggage on board. I'll never moan about my Grand Voyager being slow again! After Standard was swallowed up by Leyland Motors and then BL this van carried on as a Leyland 15 or 20 and ended up with a 2.1 litre engine when it was phased out in 1968.

I've got some confusion in my sources about when this was produced by Dinky, Ramsay states 1963-1969, the Great Book of Dinky from 1960 to 1964. I am inclined to go with the earlier date based on my own memories of owning one and the release date of the full size vehicle which was 1958. You will find it in two-tone grey over light blue or all-over blue. The all-blue versions can have red or yellow seats. Desirability in declining order is blue with yellow, blue with red and last of all (but still well priced) grey over pale blue.

Grey over light blue
