Ford Corsair - 130
This is an excellent piece of modelling from
Dinky's golden years when they were making really good models of
everyday UK motor cars. They did the Triumphs, Jaguars, Fords and Rootes
cars so well. This one is only spoilt for me by the clumsy masking
around the radiator grille. I love the opening windows feature and the
bonnet closes so tightly it needs a button underneath to get it open.
Another quibble might be that we didn't see too many two door Corsairs
in the UK - it was mainly an export option as I recall.
The Dinky Ford Corsair was launched in 1964 in both metallic and gloss red. In 1966 it changed to pale blue in which colour it remained in the range until 1969. Blue ones will get a small premium over the two red versions, but the one to look out for is a red one in a special box which has picture graphics showing a chauffer. This will multiply the value by a factor of ten.
