|I'm told the Austin/Morris/Wolseley
1800/2200, later Princess 2200, later again Austin Ambassador was an
under-rated car. I never liked it. I always thought it was trying to
dress up old, warmed over mechanicals in a wannabe contemporary package.
It also suffered a lot from the terminal decline in British Leyland at
the time it was made.
version was released in 1977 and remained in the range until 1980, well
before the full size car's final demise as the Ambassador in 1984. It
was available in metallic bronze with a copy of the 1:1 car's black
vinyl roof also covering the rear window pillars, all white, white with
a blue roof only or white with blue rear pillars only.
It is not a model that demands much of a
premium and there are no listed rare versions.
