Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III - 127

This is a brilliant model of the Mulliner Park-Ward version of the series 3 Silver Cloud, the nearest in real life I always thought to the Lady Penelope car from Thunderbirds and surely part of the inspiration for that car. It is still a truck, like all Rollers, but a stylish truck, those slanting headlamps and split opening bonnet are fantastic. Like many iconic die-casts from this period hundreds of thousands of toys were made of a car made only in handfuls in full size, less than 100 in the case of this car.

The Dinky Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III (127) was added to the range in 1964, initially it was metallic green or blue. In 1966 the colour was changed to metallic gold and in 1969 to metallic red which it remained until it was deleted in 1972. In terms of value they are all desired models and will never be cheap. The most sought after is the first release in metallic blue or green which will attract a small premium.
