Ford Escort Saloon Mk1 - 168 |

This is a transition product. Dinky had moved from the basic no
windows hulks of the 50s, through the lightweight tin-bottomed models
from the early sixties and this was Dinky going for the opening-everything
Corgi-style car. However they didn't quite make it. The engineering
wasn't there though nor was the modelling. This was a very attractive
car at first sight - but look at the detail - especially inside and
compare it with the Corgi's at the time where every dial on the
dashboard was detailed - even the structure of how the centre console
fitted into the dash. (Mini Marcos, Lancia Zagato). The dashboard on
this is just a blank - the wheels are wrong too.
Never mind though they tried and it is still nice to look at. Shame about the windscreen, I think I might have a spare knocking about somewhere from a Police version that is otherwise wrecked. |
