You can see Corgi trying to get back to their roots here, looking for a classic British marque, Triumph, and adding new and innovative features, steering controlled by pressing the door mirrors, but the world has moved on.

The car is just a rebadged Honda, designed to help the Japanese car maker beat the UK import quotas by having it made here. And kids don't want traditional die-casts any more. The Look and Learn / Eagle comic generation (mine) whose heroes were engineers have grown up and the new kids want electronic games or cars that run on tracks like Hot Wheels.

Too late.

The Acclaim was introduced in October 1981 in metallic blue and metallic green. It was still in production at the time of the brand crash in 1983.
