This is a whole franchise that passed me by, I
know nothing of Buck Rogers so I bring this from Wikipedia: "Anthony
Rogers is a fictional character that first appeared in Armageddon 2419
A.D. by Philip Francis Nowlan in the August 1928 issue of the pulp
magazine Amazing Stories. A sequel, The Airlords of Han, was published
in the March 1929 issue. The adventures of Buck Rogers in comic strips,
movies, radio and television became an important part of American
popular culture. This pop phenomenon paralleled the development of space
technology in the 20th century and introduced Americans to outer space
as a familiar environment for swashbuckling adventure."
So now I know all I need to know.
The Corgi model was made from 1980 to 1983 and
featured retractable wings and firing rockets, it was supplied with 10
spare rockets, and Wilma Dearing & Tweaky figures. There are no listed
variations and values are pretty good for complete, boxed examples with
all the bits & pieces present. |
