The John Player Special Lotus 72 from 1971 is here re-released in Texaco livery, it remained in the range until the Corgi receivership in 1982. Around this time tobacco sponsorship was disappearing from Corgi racing cars and Players cigarette adverts had to go. The model was also de-specified and lighter.

There are two variations to look out for on this car. The first is the colour of the driver's helmet. It can be black, red or orange. You will also find a variation in the wheel hubs. Some are a gold vacuum plated version of the bolt-on hub, some have 12 spoke hubs. Values are quite good and consistent across all versions.
