| This is
another model from Chris Davidson's collection of excellent mint in box
later release Corgis. More excellent pictures taken in the stunning
mountain scenery of the French Alps.
The Corgi Porsche 924
became very common in the UK during the 1980s when it was used as a
promotional model by Shell petrol stations. You were given tokens and
could save up and swap them for Corgi Die-casts. Save a lot of tokens
and you got a Burago 1:24 model. I know I was an Area Manager for
Dorothy Perkins fashion stores at the time and covered hundreds of miles
a week in my company Vauxhall and I saved the tokens.
However this one
is different in a number of ways. The giveaway was black, it had a
row of four spotlights at the front, it did not have Porsche Decals on
the doors and had cast rear lights, not the decals this car has. Nor did
it have a German licence plate. |
