This is an OK example of the
'Vigilant' Ambulance. It has a stretcher and patient in the back and two
paramedic figures, which is nice. This is actually not a bad model of an
early three door Rangie with a nice split opening rear tailgate. There
is a Police model Vigilant too - it has spotlights on the roof and
instead of the rear side windows there are slide-opening first-aid
boxes. There are also some export models made for Belgium.
The UK release Vigilant
ambulance was made from 1975 to 1977. The Great Book of Corgi just
mentions the all white version with the dark blue side stripe, however a
red & white version is mentioned in Ramsay, this might be the Police
version, which has a red stripe, mis-identified.
Mine is missing the glass from
the tailgate, but otherwise very nice. These fetch no money at all on
eBay - no idea why as they are pretty good compared to some other
offerings from Corgi at this time. Bought May 2005, cost £3.00 including
