Updated Routemaster Bus |

The AEC Routemaster London bus gets a makeover. The scale is increased slightly, it loses its driver & conductor, loses its suspension and jewelled headlamps and it gains Whizzwheels. This has proved to be an incredibly long-lived model, I think it is still in production. The initial 1975 release of the new casting was red and had the BTA Welcome to Britain stickers. Sine then it has gained countless variations in colour and livery and occasionally lost its roof and become an open-top tour bus. Some designs are Corgi core range models sold through the shops, many more though were made as code 2 special corporate and event promotional issues, sometimes in very small volumes. Not all of these releases are under number 469, in fact the range is so extensive it gets its own complete section in Ramsay's price guide so it cannot be adequately covered in a short article like this. There are two core range versions below - BTA Welcome to Britain is the standard issue, we also have the 'London Standard' slightly later issue, which I've found so far with three alternative London Transport logos as shown below. There are also two promotional models here, Weetabix and, most appropriately, Cadbury's Double Decker. Scroll down for lots more..... |
