Text from the box: "A newcomer to Formula 1 racing, the Shadow was designed by Tony Southgate (the ex-BRM designer) and built by Advanced Vehicle Systems of Northampton, England. Powered by a V8 Cosworth Ford DFV engine developing 465 brake horse power and with a five-speed gearbox, the monocoque construction has regulation deformable chassis section to protect the fuel cells in the event of an accident these cells hold 42 gallons. The front brakes are outboard, while the rear brakes are mounted inboard, next to the gearbox.

Universal Oil Products of America sponsor the UOP Shadow to advertise their research and development services in the petroleum industry and to particularly show that lead-free fuel is suitable for high performance cars."

The UOP Team Shadow Ford was made by Corgi from 1974 to 1976. It is always black with racing number 17 and UOP sponsorship. Corgi 156 is the same car but as raced as a privateer by Graham Hill with Embassy tobacco sponsorship.
