Datsun were very good you know. Yes I know Datsun was only ever a brand
of Nissan who are still very much with us, but this is Japan's E-Type
Jaguar and when the E-Type first came out Nissan were still making Austin A40s
under licence. To get from there
to here in just over ten years is phenomenal. The Japanese deserved and
continue to deserve every bit of their success in the automotive
industry. Nissan are still going strong and who these days remembers what an
Austin was?
There were two releases of the Datsun 240Z, this red East African Safari
version was the first; released in 1972 and staying in the range until
1977. The white version in US Rally colours was No.396 and was made from
1973 to 1976.
Looking closely
you can see around the paint chips that this car was painted yellow
before it was painted red, I don't think it was ever available in
yellow, the other colour was white. I wonder why it was painted yellow?
Two more points,
these are actually very good pictures so click on them, blow them up and
enjoy the detail. Secondly, this is
a rare model. It is the only one I've ever seen for sale so bask in its
scarcity. |
