One of a range of excellent Corgi Formula One cars in 1:36 scale
released in the early 70s, this is the Yardley McLaren M19a as raced by
Denny Hulme.
According to Wikipedia: "The McLaren M19A is a Formula One racing car
built and run by McLaren in three World Championship seasons between
1971 and 1973. The C version (an extension of the A car) was used in the
1972 and 1973 seasons." The pictures I have
seen of this car on the internet don't have the big air scoop.
The Yardley McLaren
was produced from 1972 to 1977 in white with orange & brown Yardley
sponsorship graphics. The driver has an orange stripe on his helmet.
There was a gift set release in 1973 (GS30) which was available by mail
order only. The set comprised three cars in kit form, this one, the 150 Surtees and
the 153 Surtees together with race officials and bollards. The McLaren
in that set was also white but the driver has a blue stripe on his
helmet.
This is a very
un-worn nice example, but has no box. |
