This is a fun gift set from back in October 1972. Corgi brought this out with the good old 438 Land-Rover Series 2 109" truck cab, a nicely modelled little aeroplane that knocked down for transport and a slightly uninspiring and dull flatbed trailer. The Landy has by now got Whizzwheels, lost its bonnet mounted spare wheel and gained a red roof beacon. The casting is also beginning to look a little tired after millions of these Land-Rovers had been produced. I think the Land-Rover should have an orange tilt with a sticker on the side This was a real aeroplane too; quote from Wikipedia: "The Tipsy Nipper T.66 is a light aircraft, developed in 1952 by Ernest Oscar Tips of Avions Fairey at Gosselies in Belgium. It was designed to be easy to fly, cheap to buy and cheap to maintain. It was designed for both factory production and homebuild. "Nipper" was the nickname of Ernest Tip's first grandchild. The first aircraft flew on 12 December 1957, 110 were built." |
