We're in Corgi heartland here - a slightly exotic yet familiar saloon car of the day, the Renault R16 was very innovative, one of the first 5 door hatchbacks, only competition was the Austin Maxi. So of course Corgi make a finely modelled version of the French car, using its novel features to add novel features to the toy - reclining front seats, a lift-up parcel shelf and the under-bonnet spare wheel.

Only the tow bar spoils the line of the model. If only Corgi had stuck with models like this. It's interesting to see that my example in metallic burgundy has suffered the same paint loss as my Mini, my Adams Probe and my rally Rover 2000 - all in the same colour.
