There is a Pontiac GTO convertible somewhere underneath
this custom bodywork and
that roof was a ragtop - even though it looks like a hardtop in the model casting - lots of fun
though, a really nice model with good detail and lovely proportions.
The car was designed and built by Dean Jeffries who also worked on the
TV Batmobile, Green Hornet's Black Beauty and the James Bond Moon Buggy from
Diamonds are Forever. Quite a CV.
Corgi were really good at this type of model. An icon of its time along
with the Bond Aston and the Batmobile - cool.
Corgi produced the Monkeemobile from 1968 to 1972,
the car itself remained consistent throughout the production run, value is
affected by the box it is found in and whether the Monkees guitar badge is still
there or not. The best price is for one with a shop display pack. Playworn
examples frequently are without the Monkees figures which can be removed.
