The '65 Mustang was always a favourite of mine and I was determined to get a green one for this collection. The green one below actually does not photograph that well. These usually get high prices on eBay but this went right through two sales without a bid and eventually I was the only bidder when I bought it - but in the flesh it actually looks good and it must win the prize for the highest number of accessory stickers in the collection. Cleaning the wheels might perk it up a bit.

The blue one is a code 3 repaint and was sold as such and it a 'superdetail' job by someone who took their time and knew what they were doing, nor have they tried to disguise the fact that the base plate has been taken off to do the job. This is now in the possession of my good friend Kees in Holland.

SPRING SUSPENSION

The silver grey one is unusual because it has spun hubs, every other one of these I've seen has wires, what is NOT unusual about it though is the suspension - which is bust. My pal Duncan has a theory that under a special law made in 1965 all Corgi Mustangs, Ghias, Ramblers, MGBs and Imps had to collapse within two weeks of purchase. I've tried a remedy suggested by another pal of using a rubber band for display, not entirely successful. I might restore this one.

The Corgi Mustang Fastback 2+2 was released in 1965 and was deleted the following year with a production of more than half a million. It is in a range of colours, silver, dark metallic blue, light green, metallic purple and deep yellow with a black bonnet. Interiors can be red, cream or black and wheels can be wire spokes, cast spokes or spun. Most versions are of similar value except for the yellow and black one which is very valuable indeed.
