The
first Corgi 'Classic' to be branded as such was the Ford Model T. I think Corgi
were after Matchbox's lunch here as by now the Models of Yesteryear range was
well established and had created its own market niche - a compromise between
modelling accuracy and a toy robust enough to play with without all those fine
detaily bits snapping off. They may however have been a bit pricey at
8/11d. I'm sure they were significantly dearer than the Matchbox MOY range.
There
are three Ford Model Ts in the 1964 Classics releases and each gets its own
model number .The black open car is 9011 and has a driver and passenger figure
in the front, the same car in yellow with the hood down and the same two figures is 9012 and in blue,
with the hood up it is 9013. The blue car was supplied with a driver figure
cranking the engine. |
