The
second version of the Corgi Fordson Major. This one has the headlights in the
grille and has parallel wheel steering. The previous version had a rigid front
axle. The rear lift arms are different too and the chimney comes through the
bonnet rather than outside as on the earlier version.
This one
takes the later plough without the top link. The Great Book of Corgi gets this
model very wrong, it is referred to as the old 55 model with an added driver. It
is actually a completely new model of a different tractor, a new model of
Fordson Major, newly modelled and a new casting.
It is a very good model and a nicely engineered toy. Go to
the 1974 page and compare it to the Massey MF50B which is a lump. This is
engineered art. |
