An elusive model this one. The older 230 model with steering and no suitcases from 1962 is a little more easy to find but both are getting scarce. I've shown both together underneath to demonstrate the difference in the base plate. This is a re-release of model 230 from 1962, having had the steering removed and suitcases added to the boot. I cannot find out whether in gaining the suitcases it lost the spare wheel, all are missing from this one, I need to cannibalise a Mini to get the spare in the correct small size. This one is even more rare in that alone among my toy Mercedes actcars it retains its star on the radiator cap. |

The No.253 Merc 22SE was released in 1964 and stayed in the range until 1968. It is found in maroon and in metallic blue. Both colours seem to be valued about the same. The boot opens and should contain a suitcase and a spare wheel in the cast spare wheel well provided. |
