This is a rather glamorous ambulance and mine is in quite good condition with
what appears to be a full set of electrics - though I've never tested them.
This is a first in a number of ways, the first electrical Corgi, the first time
anyone in the UK had seen an ambulance that wasn't a Bedford van you could walk
around in and the first time Corgi used the piped light technology which led to
the Trans-o-lite technique. Is this a bit like the hearse in Diamonds are
Forever? There was also something like it in Ghostbusters.
From 1962 to 1966
the ambulance was cream over dark red, in 1966 the design was revised and it was
recoloured to pale blue over white and metallic red over metallic silver. The
later releases tend to get the better prices. The model was finally deleted in
1968. |
