What an egregious pair of motor cars were the Ford Consul Classic 315 and Ford Consul Capri 335 (Dinky Capri on the right). But they were sadly short lived being late to market and in competition with Ford's own Cortina and just being too extreme in terms of styling for the average buyer at the time, what a shame they never lasted because they are just so wonderfully camp! One of these or a Wolseley 1500? A Caesar Salad or Brown Windsor Soup?
For comparison I've put a set of pictures on this page of what else was available for the British motorist to buy at the time, none of them are what you might call exciting - there are a good number of very smart cars, but none are exactly ground-breaking in their styling. To be fair the Morris 1100 and the Triumph Herald were technologically advanced and the Triumph did innovate plastic bumpers - but for pure mid Atlantic kitsch - the Fords are unbeatable.
